Exercise can be painful

OK, after a super long hiatus, I'm expanding the range of my blog. I'm going to be adding entries on anything that strikes me as interesting and that will probably mean some posts on yoga among other things. This quote from the NYTimes (Who, Me Take Running Class? By SARAH TUFF) caught my attention for this statistic. I had no idea how many people were hurting themselves while trying to stay fit:

Impinging on runners’ sanity, however, is the high rate of injury. About 60 to 65 percent of all runners are injured each year in five anatomical hot spots: the knee, the calf and shin, the iliotibial band (the connective tissue of the outer thigh), the Achilles tendon and the foot, according to the Sports Injury Bulletin, a newsletter produced by sports scientists in London.
Can only say, "Ouch!!!"
